“Can I just try it once?”
Nancy Leigh DeMoss: It seems like some children like to press every issue.
“But why, Mom?”
Nancy: They just can’t accept the answer that you give them.
“But, Mom . . .”
Nancy: Too often we can approach our Heavenly Father the same way.
“Wait a minute—listen, listen . . .”
We forgot that God allows us to go through hard times for a purpose—to train us, to mold us into the image of His Son, and to develop godly character in us.
That’s why the apostle Paul could say, “We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance character, and character hope.”
Have you been resisting some circumstance God’s brought into your life? Why not say, “Lord, I receive this as from Your hand. Use it to mold me and make me into the image of Jesus.”

That sure is a hard thing to do. I knew all through our difficult trial that the Lord had allowed it to happen, but I never quite got to the point where I could "rejoice" in my sufferings. Looking back now, I can rejoice knowing what God has worked in me and my family, but at the time....not so much. I pray the Lord will help us to rejoice in His refining process.
